According to the Express, Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Brighton & Hove Albion star Leandro Trossard ahead of the January transfer window.
Rival Premier League teams Chelsea and Liverpool have also been given the opportunity to sign the 27-year-old. The forward is worth approximately £25 million.
The change of signing the Belgium winger has been presented to the English giants by Trossard’s agency. This season, the Belgian has been in outstanding form for the Seagulls, scoring seven goals and dishing out three assists in 14 league games.
The 27-year-old was linked with a move to Liverpool. With an uncertain future under the current owners, the Merseyside club is not anticipated to make significant investments in January.
But the likes of Mohammed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, and Roberto Firmino make up the bulk of Liverpool’s attacking line at the moment. They obviously have sufficient firepower up front. Chelsea has also been linked with a move for Trossard since Graham Potter’s squad has not been very effective in front of goal.
The 27-year-old was chosen for Roberto Martinez’s 26-man World Cup roster. The Seagulls attacker appeared briefly against Canada and Morocco in Group F after being brought on as a replacement in the second half.
There are hardly many players who can play up top on United’s roster. Only Anthony Martial is a natural number nine. However, due to the Frenchman’s injury, Marcus Rashford has been forced to lead the line.
The loss of Cristiano Ronaldo has also limited Ten Hag’s options in attack. Although Trossard is a versatile player who can play in the middle, the Red Devils would be wise to see an outright striker enter the dressing room in the upcoming transfer windows.
