As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United is rumoured to have held talks with Borussia Dortmund winger Marco Reus.
The 33-year-old’s contract expires this summer, and he is reportedly considering his alternatives outside of Germany. Dortmund has not yet reached an agreement with their star player on a contract extension, so they may try to sell him this month in order to recuperate some money rather than allow him to leave for nothing in the summer.
The captain is now sidelined with an ankle injury, his third such setback this year. In 12 games this season, he has three goals and four assists, one of which came in the Champions League match against Manchester City.
His agent was seen at Old Trafford during United’s derby-day win against Manchester City, and Erik ten Hag hasn’t ruled out adding more players before the transfer market closes.
The Red Devils are currently facing a midfield crisis after their key player Christian Eriksen suffered an ankle injury during the clash against Reading.
United will have a hectic schedule in the upcoming months with the Europa League, Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup matches scheduled to play. It would be a wise decision for the club to sign an experienced midfielder and help them end the season on a high.
