As reported by The Express, Manchester United and Ajax are still negotiating to reach an agreement that would send Antony to Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag recently made the same move, leaving the Eredivisie powerhouses for the Red Devils at the end of the last campaign, but the Premier League team is having more trouble luring Antony.
Last week, representatives of Manchester United were scheduled to travel to Amsterdam in an effort to persuade Ajax to accept a £40 million price tag for Antony. The Red Devils’ estimate, which currently stands at £69 million, appears to fall well short of the Dutch team’s asking price.
If Manchester United makes a counteroffer of £60 million, Antony might move to Old Trafford, but they aren’t the only Premier League team expressing interest.

This is due to the fact that Chelsea has also spoken with the Brazilian representatives as they get ready to start spending after Todd Boehly’s £4.25 billion takeover.
However, Manchester United will believe they have the upper hand because Antony was chosen far more times by new Red Devils manager ten Hag when playing for Ajax.
The goal for Manchester United is to complete a deal that will send Antony to the Premier League for the first time in his career. Antony did not arrive back as his Ajax teammates started preseason practice last Friday.
Additionally, he informed his current teammates that he would not return until August, claiming that he was experiencing problems from an ankle injury. A higher than usual price tag placed on Antony has kept him out of a move to Manchester United.
Ajax is still in a good negotiation position, though, since the forward’s £19,000 per week deal expires in 2025.
