Manchester United hold talks with Bayern Munich right-back Benjamin Pavard

According to The Athletic, Manchester United has had talks with Bayern Munich right-back Benjamin Pavard.

In the summer, the Red Devils will consider any offers made for Aaron Wan-Bissaka. United wants to keep Diogo Dalot, but if the former Crystal Palace star is allowed to leave, they would prioritise finding a new right-back.

Since last summer, they have been linked with Pavard, but it is uncertain if any discussions ever occurred. It appears that the Red Devils have intensified their attempts to sign the French defender.

Bayern could be forced to move Pavard when his current deal with the Bundesliga club expires in 2024. The 27-year-old is renowned for scoring screamers and is one of the best attacking full-backs in the league.

The 2018 World Cup winner has six goals and an assist this season for the Bavarians across all competitions. United might benefit from Pavard’s versatility, since he can also play as a left-back and a center-back.

The former Stuttgart star is equipped with the abilities to blend seamlessly into Erik ten Hag’s system. He will be inexpensive and an improvement over Wan-Bissaka and Dalot. United needs to make significant signings in key positions, and securing a top right-back would help a lot.

Prior to the summer transfer window, they are not expected to be the only team keeping an eye on Pavard. Yet he might be interested in moving to the Premier League and joining one of the top clubs on the planet.

Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries is also on United’s radar. However, he won’t come for cheap.
