Finally, Manchester United has secured the signing of Lisandro Martinez, but Erik ten Hag’s team is far from finished.
The club is still trying to bring Antony to Old Trafford while simultaneously negotiating a contract for Frenkie de Jong. Deals for the pair won’t be simple, though.
Tyrell Malacia, who moved from Feyenoord to Manchester United as the first signing of the Ten Hag era, was brought in to challenge Luke Shaw.
The Red Devils later announced Eriksen’s presence earlier in the week. Martinez will make £120,000 per week at his new club, and United have now announced that they have reached an agreement on a fee with Ajax. Once bonuses are taken into account, the overall cost of the transfer would be almost £55 million.
Compared to players like Eric Bailly, Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, and Victor Lindelof, the Argentina international will present a different profile. Additionally, the 24-year-versatility old’s will be helpful because Martinez can also play as a midfielder.
United will now attempt to bolster their team with new players and would be looking to add their fourth and fifth signing of the summer. Frenkie de Jong consented to a pay cut at the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak just over two years ago.
However, Barcelona is still to pay £17m to the 25-year-old which is a major reason behind the move being blocked.
The Red Devils are also interested in signing Antony. The Brazilian international has been compared to Neymar while playing in Amsterdam, solidifying his status as one of the game’s most exciting prospects.
In 23 Eredivisie games last season, Antony registered eight goals and four assists. Additionally, it would be an ideal time in his career to make a move to Old Trafford, particularly in light of Ten Hag’s appointment.
The issue is that Ajax is not ready to lose one more star player from their squad. Martinez has already been given permission to join United; throughout his three years on their books, the Argentina international was an important player on the Dutch team.
Additionally, the current league champions Bayern Munich have also signed both, Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax. It remains to be seen what would be Ajax’s demands as the Red Devils head toward Antony in search of their fifth signing.
