According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United and Paulo Dybala’s representatives are now in contact regarding a potential transfer this summer.
After his contract with Juventus expired at the end of June, the 28-year-old is now formally a free agent, and Inter Milan was rumored to be leading the pack in the race to sign him.
Romelu Lukaku’s loan return to San Siro, together with Inter CEO Guiseppe Marotta’s statement that the team’s attacking strategy is now “set,” has now cast doubts on the deal.
The attacker’s intended transfer to Inter has been on stand-by for one month and it is now doubtful that he would travel to San Siro.
Manchester United has spoken with Dybala’s agency to see whether the South American would be interested in making the move to Old Trafford this summer. Negotiations between the parties are ongoing and the Red Devils are eager to sign him before the transfer window ends.
Paulo Dybala once again put on a show for Juventus last season, scoring 15 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions.
Between 2015 and 2022, he made 293 appearances for the Old Lady, scoring 115 goals and registering 48 assists while winning five Serie A championships, four Coppa Italia titles, and three Italian Super Cups.
Arsenal has also been linked to an interest in Dybala, but the acquisition of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City is said to have caused them to drop their chase.
After bringing in Dusan Vlahovic in January, Juventus allegedly offered Dybala a deal for £160,000 per week before modifying the terms, which prompted the former to decide to look for greener pastures elsewhere.
Following the free signings of Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata, and Jesse Lingard, Man United are already lacking in attacking alternatives, while Cristiano Ronaldo is still being linked with a move away.
Chelsea and Bayern Munich have both been widely linked with the striker over the past few days, and Ronaldo is said to have informed the Red Devils that he wants to leave the team.
Due to a personal matter, the Portugal international has failed to report to preseason training, and it is unknown if he will be joining them on their preseason tour of Thailand and Australia.
Tyrell Malacia was acquired by the 20-time English champions from Feyenoord on Tuesday, and Christian Eriksen is expected to be named as the second signing of the Erik ten Hag era this week.
