As reported by Fabzirio Romano, Premier League giants Manchester United are in talks with Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong’s agent amid a potential transfer move this summer.
Frimpong has been a target for Erik Ten Hag for a while, and it is widely believed that the United coach is interested in reuniting with his fellow countryman.
This interest arises due to the manager’s doubts about the performances of both Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

While Dalot has agreed to a contract extension, there are uncertainties surrounding Wan-Bissaka’s future at the club.
Despite showing some promising performances towards the end of the season, he has struggled to secure a consistent starting position and is visibly lacking attacking abilities.
Ten Hag is determined to bring in high-quality competition for all positions in order to bridge the gap between Man United and top clubs like Manchester City.

Bayer Leverkusen is reportedly open to selling Frimpong for around £34 million, which is considered a fair price considering the player’s contract situation (which expires in June 2025) and his impressive performances for the German club.
However, the lingering uncertainty surrounding the club’s leadership creates ambiguity regarding who will be in charge next season and the available transfer funds.
The Glazers’ approach to negotiations over the years has been seen as petty, as they tend to prolong discussions until the last possible moment in order to secure maximum financial gains.
While other clubs have already started bolstering their squads for the upcoming season, Ten Hag, and the recruitment team are still uncertain about the allocated funds for their primary targets.

Frimpong is considered one of Ten Hag’s main targets, but the decision to pursue the player depends heavily on the available budget, as there are other positions that require more immediate attention to be filled for the next season.
