As reported by The Mirror, Manchester United seems increasingly confident of signing Mauricio Pochettino this summer.
The Paris Saint-Germain manager has been a long-term target for the Red Devils, and he is on the club’s manager wishlist as they look for a permanent replacement ahead of next season.
Currently, Mauricio Pochettino is the number one target for the Manchester United hierarchy. He impressed during his previous spells with Southampton and Tottenham. He helped Tottenham reach their first UCL finals in the club’s history.
There is growing confidence inside the club that they will be able to bring the 49-year-old back to England, despite the fact that Pochettino’s tenure with Paris Saint-Germain looks much easier.
Last season, he took over from Thomas Tuchel and saw PSG lose in the title fight to Lille, while this season, he has struggled to bring out the best of his latest signings, with marquee signing Lionel Messi scoring just one goal in Ligue 1.
PSG sits comfortably at the top of the French table, and looking at their performances it seems that they will win the Ligue 1 trophy this season. However, Pochettino will be put to the ultimate test in the Champions League, where PSG will meet Real Madrid in the last 16.
After finishing second in 2020, the Parisians were beaten in the semi-finals by Manchester City last season which shows that their UCL journey has been a sew-saw ride. It has been reported that PSG has started searching for Pochettino’s successor and they have also contacted Zinedine Zidane for the job.
But we have some wonderful news for the Manchester United fans. Mauricio Pochettino could become available to consider the role at Manchester United this summer, as there has been some tension growing between him and the PSG board.
Erik Ten Hag, the manager of Ajax, is also thought to be an option for Manchester United if in case they fail to land the former Tottenham manager.
We hope the club gets the right man to guide them towards their glory days.
