Manchester United interested in a move to sign Brian Brobbey

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, RB Leipzig striker Brian Brobbey has started gaining attention from Manchester United this summer.

Erik Ten Hag had conversations with the former player regarding a move to Old Trafford. The 20-year-old was signed by RB Leipzig but he failed to establish himself in the German league.

Erik Ten Hag is a huge fan of the young Dutchman and brought him back on loan from RB Leipzig in January. Despite the unfavourable results of his time in Germany, Brobbey was in excellent form when he returned to the Eredivisie, scoring seven goals in just 11 games.

Since then, Ajax and Leipzig have been in negotiations regarding a deal, with Brobbey eager to see the move through.

Ten Hag has contacted the Dutch striker to determine his interest in moving to Old Trafford as United considers intervening in the deal.

With the enormous money that Ten Hag has this summer, it is believed that Leipzig was hoping to reach a deal with Ajax worth €25 million but had only been offered €15 million.

Brobbey had joked about asking Ten Hag to take him to Manchester months before to United’s interest, but it’s now a serious chance that the Red Devils will require a new striker. Chelsea is showing increasing interest in Cristiano Ronaldo and has informed the club that he would like any bids to be taken into consideration.

Given that they are in discussions with Ajax regarding moves for Lisandro Martinez and Antony, it is unclear how they will respond to United’s interest in Brobbey.

The two clubs now place different values on the pair, and United must raise the bar in order to convince the 36-time Eredivisie champions to consider a deal.
