According to the Fichajes, Manchester United is eager to sign Lyon star Moussa Dembele this summer.
The Red Devils are planning to acquire the 26-year-old in order to improve their attacking options. Dembele moved from Celtic to Lyon in the summer of 2018. After a few years at the French club, he also spent six months on loan at Atletico Madrid.
For the Ligue 1 team, the 26-year-old has appeared in 169 games and has contributed to 89 goals. Over the years, he’s done a respectable job for the club.
Moreover, he has made 25 appearances this season and contributed to four goals. However, this season, Dembele has played on the pitch for barely over 1,000 minutes, so these statistics do not fully convey the situation.
Dembele’s contract expires in the summer. And he has made it clear that he is not interested in agreeing to a new contract, despite the club’s desire to extend his stay.
In a few months, the 26-year-old French international will become a free agent and make a decision on his future during the summer transfer window. He could revive his career by joining a European giant.
Manchester United could be an attractive option, as they are already interested in the striker. Erik ten Hag, who has made great progress since joining the team, is seeking to bolster his attacking firepower.
Since his summer arrival, the Netherlands manager has performed admirably. He is also well aware that in order for them to contend for major titles next season, they will need a few new forwards.
It makes sense why they are after Dembele given the likelihood that Anthony Martial will be sold in the summer. Dembele may be a crucial component of Ten Hag’s attacking rotation. Also, he will not object to being substituted.
With Harry Kane on their radar, United will continue to look out for a star striker in the summer even if they sign Dembele.
