Manchester United have thrown their hat in the ring for Juventus central defender Matthijs de Ligt whose future continues to attract much speculation ahead of the summer.
De Ligt is rumoured to be close to the exit door at Juventus come the end of the season with the Italians open to parting ways with their first-team regular for a sizable asking price.
With the Old Trafford camp on the hunt for reinforcements to add to the defensive roster, De Ligt’s availability would make the Holland international a viable target in the market for Manchester United.
The 22-year-old centre-back would have compete for places with Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane and with the former struggling to maintain consistency in his form, De Ligt could help prove United with additional strengh at the back, according to reports from Calciomercato.
Competition remains stiff for De Ligt’s signature with the likes of Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona and Chelsea keeping close tabs on the in-demand defensive talent who is looking for a new destination to make the move sooner rather than later.
