As reported by The Mirror, Manchester United have joined Newcastle United, and Arsenal in the race to sign Celta Vigo playmaker Gabri Veiga.
The Red Devils have enjoyed a fantastic season under manager Erik ten Hag, and the upcoming transfer window should see another massive spending binge.
The club’s primary aim includes acquiring a new striker and a right-back, but they may also look to add a young attacking midfielder to play a supporting role for Bruno Fernandes.
Veiga, who has six goals and two assists in 21 La Liga appearances this season, is reportedly being monitored by United. However, the highly regarded Spanish teenager is also being watched by Newcastle and Arsenal.
Celta may sell the 20-year-old for €30 million in the summer. Portuguese midfielder Fernandes has contributed to several goals for the Red Devils, but his workload needs to be accessed.
Throughout the first half of the season, Donny van de Beek struggled to make an impression as the number 10 and is now out permanently following knee surgery.
Veiga would be the perfect long-term signing. The young player can score goals from outside of the penalty area. His dribbling has also attracted attention.
With his willingness to take chances and create in the final third, Veiga has completed 80% of his passes this season, which is fairly impressive.
The 20-year-old has a long way to go and United will be the happier side if they can convince the Spanish side to sell him for cheap this summer.
