Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has stated that Manchester United are monitoring Nice’s centre-back, Jean-Clair Todibo.
Despite already securing three signings this transfer window, including Mason Mount, Andre Onana, and Rasmus Hojlund for a total of £162 million upfront, the Red Devils are still keeping an eye on potential reinforcements, with Todibo being one of their targets.
According to Romano, United are interested in signing Todibo, but any potential move is contingent on the departure of Harry Maguire.
The Red Devils recently rejected a £20 million bid from West Ham for Maguire, indicating their desire to retain their former captain.
Todibo has impressed as a centre-back since joining Nice from Barcelona, making him a viable candidate to replace Maguire. However, United’s pursuit of Todibo will depend on Maguire’s potential exit.

At present, United’s first-choice centre-backs are Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, with Victor Lindelof serving as the immediate backup option.
However, United will need to sell Harry Maguire before making a move for the French defender. Todibo would be a valuable addition to the squad, as he is a strong and ball-playing centre-back with excellent tackling and clearance abilities.
His notable strength lies in his recovery pace, as he made an impressive average of eight recoveries per game last season.

If Maguire departs, Todibo could be a straightforward signing for United. However, acquiring him would come at a cost of at least £39 million this summer.
To finance the move, United will likely aim to recoup at least £30 million from the sale of Maguire.
