Manchester United are considering making a bid for Lille’s talented player Carlos Baleba as an alternative option to Mason Mount.
Negotiations between United and Chelsea for Mount’s potential transfer seem to have reached a deadlock, as the two clubs disagree on the valuation of the English midfielder.
As a result, the Red Devils may choose to withdraw from the negotiations altogether, prompting them to explore other options for strengthening their midfield.
According to La Voix du Nord, a Lille-based newspaper, Man United are planning to make a bid for Baleba, offering nearly €30 million (£25 million) for the young player.
Baleba, who made his professional debut for Lille less than a year ago, caught the attention of United when he replaced former United player Angel Gomes as a substitute.

The 19-year-old Cameroonian has made 19 appearances for Lille, with only five of those being starts. During his formative years, Baleba admired players like Paul Pogba, who had already experienced two stints at United before Baleba even began his professional career.
Also, United are reportedly considering a move for former Lille midfielder Amadou Onana. However, if they wish to sign the 21-year-old Belgian international, they might need to pay around £50 million (€58 million).
Erik ten Hag has not made any additions to the squad thus far in the summer transfer window as he prepares for the team’s return to the Champions League next season.
The primary focus for the 13-time Premier League champions is securing a new number nine, but it appears unlikely that their long-term target, Harry Kane, will be the chosen option as United are reportedly hesitant to meet Tottenham’s valuation of the England captain.
