As reported by Calcimercato, Manchester United are currently leading the race to sign PSV Eindhoven striker Cody Gakpo this January.
The highly-rated Dutch talent has taken the Eredivisie by storm after having 33 goal contributions to his name this season.
Louis Van Gaal has gifted him the chance to spearhead the attacking unit and he repaid the manager’s faith by scoring the opening goal against Group A opponents Senegal yesterday.
Erik ten Hag is also a fan of the 23-year-old who is slowly gathering attention from elite clubs. The Red Devils are no strangers in this race as they have been trying the pursue a deal since the summer transfer window. Gakpo is valued at £50 million by the Dutch outfit and Ruud Van Nistelrooy also revealed that the club will accept any offer that meets their asking price.

The striker had earlier revealed that he was unhappy about missing out on a transfer to Old Trafford and he also held talks with Ten Hag regarding a possible move in the summer.
As the player continues to impress for his national side, United needs to be quick in this race as many other clubs will be attracted by his recent form. United will have a reason to pursue this deal as Cristiano Ronaldo is set to leave the club anytime now.
Gakpo would be a smart signing for the club as his clever movements in the box and strong physicality will suit Ten Hag’s style of play.
