Manchester United learn Cody Gakpo asking price ahead of crucial transfer window

According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United will have to spend between €60 and €65 million to buy PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo in January.

Cristiano Ronaldo and the Red Devils recently parted ways amicably, and manager Erik ten Hag has since indicated that the team may bring in a new striker.

Gakpo is one of the players being considered, and Romano has just disclosed that PSV has increased their asking price for the Dutchman to between €60 and €65 million, including add-ons.

The 23-year-old had stated that he expected to sign with United last summer, and Romano claims that he is still interested in doing so.

Gakpo has had a fantastic season for PSV, scoring 13 goals and dishing out 17 assists in just 24 games. He took the momentum into the World Cup, scoring three goals there. His performances should generate a lot of attention from clubs in January, but as long as United are willing to pay the asking price, they should have the upper hand.

The Dutch star recently declared that he would think about joining United in January after nearly doing so during the summer transfer window.

The forward has made it clear that he wants to join United, and they must sign him this winter or they risk losing out entirely on his services. Gakpo is also a target for Liverpool, who might contact him in the wake of Luis Diaz’s latest injury setback.

Following Gabriel Jesus’ injury, Arsenal may also join the race. United must therefore secure Gakpo by the end of January because they cannot afford to wait.
