Manchester United left-back Alex Telles considers returning to Porto

Manchester United fans will be shocked to hear that left-back Alex Telles is thinking about returning to Porto one day.

Since joining the Red Devils in 2020, the Brazilian attacking left-back has been forced to play as a substitute in the majority of games this season.

Perhaps his lack of playing time is what has prompted him to confess that he still considers returning to Portugal. He has won the league title with Porto along with the Portuguese Cup and the Super Cup.

With United apparently on the verge of appointing Ajax manager Erik ten Hag as their new permanent manager, Telles may find himself sliding down even further in the team. Apparently the club’s inability to fight for any title this season also comes as a worry.

As quoted by Ojoco, Alex Telles said:

“I am forever grateful to the club, and of course, I am thinking one day of going back there and continuing this course. It was a very happy period in my life. NFC Porto is a love story, it was the club I knew best, I spent four years there.”

“I got to know the city and formed Many friends, she has a special place in my heart. In addition, the best numbers of my career were there. What made me come to Manchester United is what I did with FC Porto”

As United looks for a new manager, fellow left-back Luke Shaw who hasn’t had the best season, won’t be feeling safe either.

Just like Telles, Luke Shaw appears to be a far way from the form he showed last season, including for England during the postponed Euro 2020, and might find himself facing an uncertain future, especially if the club’s next manager is planning to bench him.

Telles has made 43 appearances in all competitions since joining Manchester United in 2020, directly contributing to seven goals.
