Manchester United linked with a high-profile move for Kylian Mbappe

As reported by Daily Star, Manchester United are prepared to make a high-profile move for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe.

The Red Devils will explore the prospects of landing Mbappe in a spectacular £150 million move but it won’t be easy as Real Madrid are the front-runners in the race to sign the world-class attacker.

This follows Cristiano Ronaldo’s bombshell interview with Piers Morgan, which makes it nearly clear that he will leave Old Trafford. Ronaldo revealed in the chat with Piers Morgan that he had no respect for the current boss Erik ten Hag and accused United of betraying him.

Due to this, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner would not be able to return to Old Trafford after the World Cup. The Red Devils will have more financial breathing room after his departure because he presently makes about £560,000 per week. The salary demands of Mbappe, which are comparable to what Ronaldo makes at United, are difficult to meet for many European giants.

The other two strikers that United are interested in are Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen. The Mbappe rumours seem a little improbable, especially in light of the fact that United are still not capable of mounting a meaningful title challenge.

But it would make far more sense to sign Kane. Under Antonio Conte, Tottenham Hotspur has seen many ups and downs in their recent campaign. The England striker has been unable to play at his best level under the new management.

Kane will be pleased with Ten Hag’s desire for his team to play offensive football, which he has demonstrated over the past six months. Manchester City was linked with a move for Kane in the previous transfer windows. However, Erling Braut Haaland’s move to the Etihad will scrap off any potential attempts to sign the English striker.

Despite this, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will be prepared to stop the club’s talisman from joining a rival English team. It remains to be seen whether United accelerate its attempts to sign a new forward this January.
