According to 90min, Manchester United has set their sights on signing Ruben Neves from Wolves as they look to strengthen their midfield.
Neves joined Wolves from Porto back in 2017 for just £16m and this has certainly proved to be a great bargain for a team that is performing at the highest level right now. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are currently sitting at the 12th spot and will be soon replacing their structural plans at the club as well.
It has been subjected that Wolves will not see any change in their owners but their players could be affected by this as the club would look to add in reinforcements. Neves currently has a very low transfer price of just £30million.
Previously teams like Manchester City were also linked with the player. Neves has been flourishing at the midfield position and his performances have also helped him in getting his place in the Portugal International team.
As things stand, United needs reinforcements in their midfield zone. Solksjaer is aware of the potential that Neves possesses. He is spot on with his long shots as well as a specialist in free kicks. He handles the midfield very smoothly and is calm in tight situations. United have previously hit gold when they brought another Portuguese player and that is Bruno Fernandes. Neves may have a similar effect on this United squad.
Neves has already scored 30 goals for Wolves in 170 appearances and has still years to play. He can be at his prime if he joins United. Solksjaer will be keen to directly include him in the playing eleven and make things easy for Paul Pogba to exploit and attack more in the opposition half.
The current situation with Van De Beek also looks very gloomy as he is not been provided with enough game time. Signing Neves will further create a hole in his Old Trafford career.
