According to Calciomercato, Manchester United has joined Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea in the race to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
Despite being a regular player in Juventus’ lineup this season, Rabiot could be on his way out as Massimiliano Allegri looks to bolster his team in order to challenge at the top of Serie A.
Since his free move from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2019, Rabiot has been in and out of the Juventus starting XI. Over the course of his three seasons with Juventus, the Frenchman has made 129 appearances, scoring six goals and assisting on as many occasions from midfield.
Despite the fact that he started 28 Serie A games for the Bianconeri this season, the club does not consider him ‘non-saleable’ and is open to bids of roughly €15 million for him.
Chelsea has been interested in the midfielder for some time, but news has emerged that Manchester United has joined the fight to get him. Manchester United will be aiming to rebuild their team following a dismal season, including the recent appointment of Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag will have to prioritize a central midfielder this summer after Paul Pogba, Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic have revealed that they will leave the club when their contracts expire.
Even if the club considers playing one of their own players, they will be knowing about the difficult season they had, with their midfield, in particular, being a stumbling block.
Scott McTominay and Fred are unlikely to be a midfield duo Manchester United will desire in the future, especially if they want to challenge for a place in the Champions League.
