Moroccan and Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou has been contacted by Manchester United ahead of the January transfer window.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, United and Bayern Munich may be involved in a bidding war for the player. Bounou was the Moroccan team’s star at the World Cup in Qatar this winter.
A €50 million release clause has been added to the 31-year-old goalkeeper’s current contract. In January, he might be offered a little less, though.
And it appears that the Sevilla star may be the right candidate for the role given that Erik Ten Hag is looking for a world-class goalkeeper. Bono is a very skilled goalkeeper, as he showed when playing in Qatar, where he made numerous outstanding saves, including his excellent performance in the victory over Spain on penalties.
The Sevilla star has excellent reflexes, is authoritative and strong in the air, and possesses a broad range of passing skills. But considering that David de Gea appears to be back to his best currently, €50 million is a lot of money to spend for a goalkeeper.
The Moroccan, who is 31 years old, is hardly an investment for the future. Ten Hag is more likely to recruit an experienced goalkeeper for a low price, such as Yann Sommer, or a promising young goalkeeper like Illan Messier of Leeds United in January.
United would benefit greatly from adding Bounou in the January transfer window, but not for €50 million.
