The in-demand Jesse Lingard is set to stay put at Old Trafford beyond this summer’s transfer window with Manchester United not looking to offload him despite considerable interest in the England international’s services.
West Ham United have been long backed as the leaders in the widely-contested race to sign Lingard from United this summer but The Hammers have failed to convince Ole Gunnar Solskajer on the pricing front.
Reports from Sky Sports claim that with the final hours of the summer transfer window now in play, United will be looking to retain Lingard and possibly offer him a contract extension going forward this season.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at the scene had given birth to talk of the boss Ole Gunnar Solskajer offloading an attacking player from this ranks with Lingard’s name doing the rounds as the likes of West Ham and Everton launched inquires into signing him.
However, it is the Wales international Dan James who will be seen heading out the exit door at Old Trafford on deadline day with Leeds United poised to complete the transfer in a deal worth £24 million.
