Manchester United has reportedly made a second bid to sign Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid this summer.
Last season we saw Luke Shaw return to form as he turned into the Premier League’s best left-back after the signing of Alex Telles from FC Porto. Also, it seems like manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to do the same trick at the right-back position, as well.
Currently, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the backbone of United’s right-back spot, with Diogo Dalot’s future in doubt after a respectable season-long loan at AC Milan. The Portuguese defender didn’t perform well and we speculate Solskjaer needs Trippier as an attacking right-back to provide fresh competition to Wan-Bissaka.
If Manchester United wants to challenge for Premier League titles, they certainly require a superior squad in terms of depth and quality. It’s no big surprise Solskjaer needs extraordinary competition for places as it’s the only way we will be ready to rival big teams like Manchester City.
The Daily Express has indicated that United has now made a second bid for Trippier, with their first offer worth £10m dismissed by Atletico Madrid. Man United has apparently increased the bid to £21.5m.
In addition, the report adds that Diego Simeone is getting tempted by the bid offered, with Atletico hoping to bring in cash for their very own summer transfer targets.
We will not have to stress over Premier League insight with Trippier – since he played first-class football for Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur already. Trippier is already getting ready for life at Old Trafford next season.
This deal looks interesting but whether Trippier will get more game time than Wan-Bissaka is still not guaranteed.
