Manchester United are not in talks yet with Barcelona for signing Memphis Depay despite the Dutchman being linked with a return to Old Trafford in this summer’s transfer window.
Barcelona are keen on offloading a number of their first-team players before the window closes with the cash-strapped Catalan giants looking to balance their books and allow the registration of new recruits.
According to the Spanish news outlet Sport, it is claimed that the Red Devils are holding out on entering into negotiations with the Barca camp for bringing Depay back to Old Trafford with the Holland international forward facing an uncertain future at Camp Nou beyond the summer.
Depay is understood to have made it clear that he does not want to join his long-standing suitors Tottenham Hotspur which might open the door for Eric ten Hag and Manchester United to lodge a bid for the ex-Lyon attacker.
United did not bring up the topic of signing Depay during their drawn-out talks with the Camp Nou outfit earlier in the summer when the two clubs were locked in discussions over a deal for midfield man Frenkie de Jong.
