Manchester United Open To Selling Struggling Star

Reports coming in from Old Trafford hint that one more Manchester United signing could face the axe this summer. It’s overhaul time, both on the managerial as well as players side with the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The club now want to shrug off some players after their very disappointing campaign where they finished eighth in the Premier League.

Discussions are taking place regarding potential successors of Erik ten Hag with no certainty over his long-term future after a grueling campaign for the Red Devils.

Anthony

It would also seem just about anyone within the squad can be sold, with Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial already heading towards the exit door, while midfielder Casemiro is reportedly of interest to Saudi Arabian clubs.

The latest name to be shown the exit door is Antony, who has failed to gain traction at Old Trafford since arriving. Having previously been touted by Ten Hag as a player who could become “a great player”, Antony really has had an awful couple of seasons.

Fairly or unfairly, disciplinary problems have come to define his on-field contributions; since arriving at the club, he has picked up more yellow cards than goal involvements.

While there was passion and ambition in Antony for Ten Hag, the guy’s fortunes took a turn for the worse since he got very limited game time and that now dropped his market value. Signed for a whooping £86 m and earning £200,000 per week, Antony, says Transfermarkt is valued at a meagerly £21 m.

Manchester United shall attempt to make as big a retrieval as possible on the large investment they have made in Antony, but what with his underwhelming contribution this season may not be sure to get any club to pay their asking price.

Antony

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that a serious offer for Antony would be welcomed by United, but then such has not been forthcoming so far.

The chances of Antony leaving Old Trafford this summer are remote as it is. But the task of contacting another club to pay for him will be a herculean one.

The day he was signed was when Ten Hag boasted about his potential. But reality is somewhat differently reflected in his performances , which will now see him leave Old Trafford this summer in the club’s effort to rejuvenate their squad going into next season.
