According to the Sun, Manchester United is prepared to offer Lisandro Martinez a wage boost of £50,000 per week after an outstanding debut season.
The Argentine centre-back moved to the Red Devils from Ajax last summer in a £55 million transfer, and he quickly won over the supporters.
Martinez has pleased the club’s supporters with his strong defensive abilities and ball distribution, and United is now willing to increase his pay in response. With a renewal, the central defender’s base pay may rise from £120,000 to £170,000 per week, but he will have to wait.
Martinez’s new deal might become a reality once the Glazers decide to sell the team, which could happen at this point in the club’s ownership issue.
The 25-year-old is currently the 13th highest earning player in the club. Given his outstanding campaign, Erik ten Hag wants him to be paid more.
In the Premier League, the Argentine has completed an amazing 87% of his passes. He has made 3.6 clearances while winning two tackles each game.
It is sad that he has been sidelined for the season following a metatarsal surgery because he has forged an excellent relationship with Raphael Varane.
Martinez would be ready to go for the preseason. United will soon be very busy with contract renewals. They may offer new contracts to some of their first-team players once the ownership dispute is resolved.
Personal details for David de Gea’s new contract have been agreed upon, and it is anticipated that Diogo Dalot and Marcus Rashford will also extend their contracts.
