Manchester United had a great game against the Paris Saint-Germain, in their own backyard, as the Red Devils won 1-2. United came into the game as underdogs, but after this result, the Red Devils will grow confident, as they managed to beat the finalist of last season’s Champions League. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also deserves a lot of credit, as he had his tactics spot on and made changes that helped United.
There were several Manchester United players who had a great game, let us now have a look at how the Manchester United players rated against PSG.
DAVID DE GEA – 8
Arguably the best player on the pitch, David De Gea showed why he is considered as one of the world’s finest. The Spaniard had a great game as he kept the backdoor shut for United making a couple of saves that looked destined to finish in the back of the net.
AARON WAN-BISSAKA – 9
Aaron Wan-Bissaka probably played the best game of his career so far, while he was up against Neymar and Mbappe. The right wing-back pushed forward a lot but also was superb defensively, completely shutting PSG’s left channel. The full-back pocketed Mbappe in the second half, which is a testimony to the level of performance he put in.
AXEL TUANZEBE – 8
Axel Tuanzebe played his first competitive game in about a year and showed everyone why Solskjaer rates him so highly. Tuanzebe was a rock at the heart of United’s defence and made a couple of match-saving tackles, keeping PSG forwards, especially Mbappe, at bay.
VICTOR LINDELOF – 7
Victor Lindelof looked stable with Tuanzebe and Shaw with him and didn’t make any mistake. The Swedish defender maintained a good position and wasn’t tested a lot because of the same.
LUKE SHAW – 8
Luke Shaw had a great game at left centre-back and later at the left-back spot as well. Shaw showed maturity while playing as a centre-back and made a few crucial interceptions to keep the Red Devils in the game.
ALEX TELLES – 7
Alex Telles finally made his debut for the Red Devils and showed his qualities on and off the ball. Telles was United’s creator in chief in the first half as he galloped down Manchester United’s left flank. He was also good defensively and completely stopped Florenzi from going forward.
FRED – 7
Fred was another superstar tonight, as he marshalled the midfield against the likes of Neymar and Di Maria. In the second half, Fred was unplayable as he didn’t let Neymar off the hook and took the ball off him several times.
SCOTT MCTOMINAY – 6
McTominay had another mixed game as he struggled in the first half against Neymar, who completely got the better of the Scotsman. But I the second half, the United midfielder came out on top as he won the physical battle with PSG’s midfield.
BRUNO FERNANDES – 7
Manchester United’s captain for last evening, Bruno Fernandes, inevitably scored for the Red Devils from the penalty spot. Bruno was a vocal presence for the Red Devil, but also missed a few golden chances and made a few poor decisions. But overall he was great and created chances going forward.
ANTHONY MARTIAL – 6
Martial had a moderate game, mainly because he was wasteful infront of goal and also scored the own goal, bring PSG right back into the game. The Frenchman won the penalty for Manchester United but could have scored himself a couple of times.
MARCUS RASHFORD – 7
Marcus Rashford was again the man to seal the victory for Manchester United as he scored another late goal at Paris for the Red Devils. But Rashford was also wasteful in front of goal as he missed chances to score.
