As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United’s players showed up for training by 9 am to have a meeting with Erik ten Hag after Liverpool humiliated the Red Devils at Anfield on Sunday.
By the time the players arrived, United manager Erik ten Hag had already spent close to two hours at the location. The players were always expected to show up for recovery sessions and a morning training session at 9 am.
Former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave the team a day off after Liverpool humiliated United 5-0 at Old Trafford last season. However, Ten Hag has decided to follow his rules and maintain discipline within the squad.
The Dutch boss will demand a reply from his players following their shambolic performance and he will demand a reply against Real Betis on Thursday. United have now gone eight games without a victory at Anfield, their worst score since Boxing Day 1931. Since December 2007, United has only won three matches at Liverpool.
Ten Hag doesn’t need any justification from his players and he will be unhappy by the way his team backed off completely in the second half. United played with the same line-up against the Reds but the results are shocking.
The players have apologized to the fans but they need to come back and believe in the process going forward.
