According to Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United may try again this summer to sign Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix.
The Red Devils wanted to sign the Portuguese attacker on a temporary loan, but Chelsea beat them to sign him after agreeing to Atletico’s terms. Felix hasn’t stood out for the Blues yet, but it’s said that United is still interested in bringing the 23-year-old in at the end of the season.
The Red Devils may be seeking a “favourable deal” from the Spanish club this summer as they regard Felix as a potential “cornerstone” in Erik ten Hag’s rebuild.
Felix is now valued at €140 million by Atletico, but according to Mundo Deportivo, they may have to accept less than that to complete his permanent exit.
Felix was heavily linked to United over the previous winter, but it was obvious that they were unwilling to pay the €11 million loan fee to get him from Atletico.
Since then, the Portuguese have had trouble standing out at Chelsea. He has only scored twice in nine games and has a history of squandering obvious opportunities.
In our opinion, United shouldn’t invest €100 million in Felix because he has fallen short of everyone’s high hopes.
Jorge Mendes, his agent, is undoubtedly attempting to generate interest, so it won’t come as a surprise if Chelsea option against going after a permanent deal for him.
The acquisition of a star striker should be United’s first goal this summer. With his enormous potential, we believe Goncalo Ramos of Benfica could be the ideal addition.
