As reported by Calciomercatoweb, Manchester United are preparing a part-exchange transfer move for Chelsea midfielder Denis Zakaria.
The Red Devils are willing to part ways with Victor Lindelof in exchange for the midfielder, who is presently on loan with Chelsea. They would then pay the valuation difference in cash.
Denis Zakaria received huge hype after moving to Juventus from Borussia Monchengladbach in January 2022. He did take some time to get used to his new environment, but the Bianconeri may have benefited from his presence.
Yet, Paul Pogba’s summer arrival forced Juventus to think about the Swiss star’s future. Chelsea proposed to sign him on a loan, and Juventus accepted the offer, adding a buy option.
At Stamford Bridge, he hasn’t exactly made an impact, but he has left an impression. This season, he has been largely sidelined by injury and has gradually fallen out of favour with two different managers.
Chelsea is therefore unlikely to use the €33 million buy option to acquire him on a permanent basis. The midfielder might so return to Juventus and make a new decision on his future in the summer.
United could be interested in this deal as Erik Ten Hag wants to sign a new midfielder.
Zakaria could get the best environment at Old Trafford given that he has already adapted to life in the Premier League. Chelsea’s challenging season has halted the progress of many of their team’s stars.
United may suggest a part-exchange move if Juventus is willing to enter talks for Zakaria. The Red Devils are prepared to offload Victor Lindelof in the summer once the defender became surplus to requirements.
However, Italian giants, Inter Milan remain interested in Lindelof. The Swedish defender would prefer staying at Old Trafford to finish out his contract if Juventus makes it clear that they need a new defender.
