Manchester United has sealed the deal to sign Lisandro Martinez from Ajax for £55m.
The Argentine international has been the focus of a lot of rumors over the past couple of months, with Arsenal initially appearing to be the favorite to land his services.
Fabrizio Romano claims that United, who had been in the lead to sign him, has finally secured its target. With the paperwork signed there is a complete agreement in place between United and Ajax for a sum up to €55m.
The new United manager Erik ten Hag, who managed Lisandro at Ajax, is claimed to have played a “major part” in the defender’s decision to sign a five-year agreement at Old Trafford.

It’s fair to say that Erik Ten Hag has a big job on his hands after Man Utd’s worst-ever Premier League season under Ralf Rangnick last season. Of course, he has made an effort to make things right by entering the market and his flair.
The left-sided center-back is said to have been more intrigued by the chance to reunite with Ten Hag, who managed him at Ajax. Martinez appeared seven times for Argentina and played 36 times for Ajax last season.
Manchester United United played against Melbourne Victory and snatched a 4-1 victory. They now face Crystal Palace on Tuesday, and Aston Villa on Saturday.
The next deal to be completed will be that of Frenkie De Jong. The Red Devils are pushing to convince the player to accept the personal terms as soon as possible.
