Manchester United ready to offload striker Anthony Martial in January

Manchester United are prepared to offload Anthony Martial as they look to minimize their losses in the January transfer window.

The French star, who is in his ninth season with the club, has an uncertain future due to his contract expiring next summer.

While a one-year extension option is available for his £250,000-per-week contract, the Red Devils are hesitant to activate it due to Anthony Martial’s recent performance.

According to reports from TalkSPORT, the club is now actively exploring options to sell Martial in the upcoming January transfer window.

The English giants are willing to accept a small transfer fee for the 27-year-old, who originally joined from Monaco in a deal worth up to £58 million.

Martial faced multiple injuries during the 2022-23 season, missing 29 games across all competitions for the club. Given his reliability issues, United made a huge investment in young striker Rasmus Hojlund over the summer, and he has become the unquestioned first-choice upfront.

Martial currently serves as a backup striker in the squad, and United might not be inclined to extend his current contract, especially considering his injury-prone history.

Should United successfully part ways with him in January, they could reinvest in another promising young centre-forward, using the funds generated from the striker’s transfer.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are nearing a deal to secure a 25% ownership stake in the club, and they will have authority over sporting decisions. As a result, it’s possible that we’ll witness a mid-season investment.

In our opinion, Man United might pursue Santos striker Marcos Leonardo. They’ve had their eye on the young Brazilian since the summer, and they could attempt to sign him in the upcoming year.
