Manchester United Receive Blow With David De Gea Injury

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United have received yet another major injury setback as Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea is set to be unavailable for the encounter against Liverpool on 20th October.

Spain’s national team manager Robert Moreno has confirmed that Red Devils shot-stopper David De Gea has sustained an injury to his abductor muscle which is likely to rule him out of the crunch game against Liverpool this weekend. Moreno spoke about De Gea’s problem after Spain’s 1-1 draw against Sweden at the Friends Arena on Tuesday night.

The 28-year-old produced a superb save in the early parts of the game but was powerless to stop Marcus Berg’s effort in the 50th minute which gave the hosts the lead. De Gea kept on producing some impressive saves but unfortunately picked up an injury with his abductor’s muscle. This is a huge blow for Manchester United as De Gea could have played a crucial part in keeping out Liverpool’s attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

It’s almost certain that De Gea will not take part in the game against Liverpool as Spain manager Moreno told reporters, “He had pain in the abductor’s muscle but he received treatment at half-time and wanted to keep playing, He gave us his word, but in the end, he couldn’t continue”

United sit in 12th position on the Premier League table and are 15 points behind league leaders Liverpool who will arrive at Old Trafford to try and maintain their winning start to the Premier League
