Manchester United receive huge boost in the race to sign Ansu Fati

Manchester United have gained a major boost in their efforts to sign Barcelona winger Ansu Fati this summer.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the 20-year-old is not in manager Xavi Hernandez’s plans for the upcoming season. The Spanish attacker will likely be sold by Barcelona during the summer window.

Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent, has informed the team that they can sign him for a fee of around €70 million. The Catalans will be looking to balance their financial books by offloading some of their best players in the upcoming months.

Given that Fati is a La Masia graduate and that all of the money from his sale would be profit, his probable transfer appears to be in the best interests of the Spanish powerhouses.

Fati has had trouble starting regularly as manager Xavi has mostly used him as a substitute this season. He has started just 11 games in La Liga, and his performances have not been quite impressive.

He appeared to be quite promising when he first began playing for the senior team at Camp Nou. The Barca starlet astounded everyone with his enormous talent and even received Lionel Messi’s renowned number ten shirt.

The Spanish attacker appeared to have a very promising future. However, things haven’t gone well for him due to injuries that have affected his development over the past few years. The winger hasn’t been given enough chances by the manager, but his poor performances haven’t helped the team this season.

It seems that the Red Devils are unlikely to spend such a hefty transfer fee on a new left winger given that they are already well-stocked in that position. But, a new challenge there could be helpful for the La Masia graduate.
