Manchester United reject AC Milan loan offer for Diogo Dalot

As per Sempre Milan, Manchester United has dismissed a loan offer from AC Milan to get Diogo Dalot for one more season.

The Portuguese full-back spent the entire 2020/21 season on loan at the San Siro. While he didn’t play every game for the Italian side, Dalot had his impact in helping the Rossoneri secure Champions League qualification.

It would be too much to say that he was the most important player for the Italians last season. In spite of that, it would seem he has had enough of an effect for Milan to ask for a loan offer again.

As per the report, Milan’s offer was not received well by United who has since dismissed the loan offer. Regardless of whether this is on the grounds that the Red Devils are looking for a permanent signing rather than a loan offer.

Even after United rejected Milan’s loan offer, they don’t seem to give up on Diogo Dalot. They are set to contact United again next week and will look to have a better communication with them regarding the deal.

Dalot was called up to replace Joao Cancelo in the Portugal national team for this present summer’s Euros. The reigning champs start their title defense against Hungary on Tuesday night. Exactly how much playing time the 22-year-old will earn stays not yet clear.

A gifted player fit for playing on one or the other flank, Dalot has been facing injuries and poor form at United. It’s an obvious fact that United is on the lookout for another right-back this late spring who can provide close competition to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The Red Devils have been constantly linked with a move for Kieran Trippier yet they should fork out €40m for his signature.

A solid appearance at the Euros could increase Dalot’s odds of remaining on as Wan-Bissaka’s substitute. After all, it should also increase Milan’s curiosity even more for the player.
