Manchester United reject Atletico Madrid’s approach for Victor Lindelof

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has rejected Atletico Madrid’s request to sign centre-back Victor Lindelof this January.

Since the Dutchman took over, the 28-year-old Swedish star has made just four Premier League starts, with two more coming off the bench. Lindelof and Harry Maguire have undoubtedly not been the first choices. At center-back, Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have been the preferred pairing, with Luke Shaw also being brought in to play as a centre-back.

However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ten Hag does not want to lose Lindelof, so the Red Devils rejected Atletico Madrid’s offer to sign him. Wolves are pushing for a move for their center-back Felipe, so Atletico Madrid is considering other center-back options. The Spanish team has moved on from Lindelof and is now hoping to sign Leicester City star Caglar Soyuncu.

Ten Hag wants to keep his team together as they compete for the Champions League spot, despite the fact that Lindelof may not be a regular in the first team.

Manchester United made it six wins in a row with a 3-0 victory over Charlton in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals on Tuesday.

On Saturday, the Manchester derby will mark the Red Devils’ return to Premier League action. Next month, they will be back in action in the Europa League as they get ready to face Barcelona in the knockout play-off round.
