Manchester United have reportedly rejected an offer of £18m from Fiorentina for midfielder Fred. United signed Fred for £52m last season but he has struggled to replicate the performances he showed at Shakhtar Donetsk in the Premier League and United are reportedly willing to listen to offers for the former Man City target.
Fred only made 17 Premier League appearances and 25 in all competitions last summer after his big-money move to United.
United Will hope they can recover a significant amount of the cash they spent to bring him to the club. Fred has lost his place in the United side and has not made a single appearance this season with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring to play Scott McTominay alongside Paul Pogba.
Fred will hope he gets a chance to impress this season after United have had a poor start to the season despite their 4-0 thrashing of Chelsea. The Chelsea win was followed by a 1-1 draw at Wolves and a 1-2 shock home defeat to Crystal Palace.
Fred is down the pecking order at United with even Andreas Perreira and Nemanja Matic ahead of him.
United was interested in signing midfielders Bruno Fernandes and Sean Longstaff and are expected to launch another bid in the January transfer window which would mean that Fred will be surplus to requirements.
