Manchester United scouting Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez

According to the Mirror, Manchester United and Chelsea are watching Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

The Seagulls’ starting goalkeeper, who has been in excellent form this season, was chosen for the Spain World Cup squad ahead of David de Gea.

Given that De Gea’s current contract is ending and the club has the option to extend it by another year, some media outlets believe that United will be looking for a new goalkeeper.

Sanchez is among the league’s top goalkeepers. However, if manager Erik ten Hag decides to sign the Brighton keeper, there may be competition from Chelsea. The Blues are also looking forward to adding some much-needed competition at the back-line and Graham Potter would be tempted to sign his former player.

Meanwhile, for United, Sanchez has an advantage over other targets because of his ball-playing skills. He has a stellar record for Brighton with 25 clean sheets in 78 appearances and has played every game this year. The 24-year-old has made a name for himself and he could be a perfect replacement for De Gea. The Red Devils are lacking options at the back with only Martin Dubravka and Tom Heaton being the other available players.

Both the keepers are past their prime years and the club would prefer to sign a young player rather than depending on their current crop of players.
