According to Fussball News (via the Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are closely monitoring German side Schalke’s young midfielder Assan Ouedraogo.
The Red Devils are shifting towards a new strategy in the transfer market. They are now looking to scout young talents across the world under the leadership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
They are heavily monitoring the South American market after understanding Real Madrid’s success in finding such budding players.
Man Utd have recently scouted Boca Juniors centre-back Aaron Anselmino. They have also hunted for talents across Europe with the likes of Francesco Camarda, Chris and Daniel Rigg, and Archie Grey.

They have now been focusing on another gem of a player from Germany. Ouedraogo has recently emerged as a valuable asset for Schalke after his performances in tier two of the Bundesliga this season.
Although the club hasn’t tasted success in the league as they stand in the 12th spot, Ouedraogo has been putting up some decent numbers.
The 17-year-old has scored two goals and provided two assists in 16 appearances for his parent club. He was injured during the winter period but returned to regular action this summer.
He also has 17 caps for the German U17 side. The youngster can cover various positions on the field such as central midfield, left wing and attacking midfield roles.
Ouedraogo is known for dropping deep and initiating attacking moves from there. His playing style is similar to Chelsea legend Essien, although it is too early to compare these too. He has the composure at his age and he can use his explosive pace to break the lines.

Man United and Chelsea were already scouting him in October and it seems that the former have been impressed by the limited action they witnessed last year.
However, the Red Devils won’t be alone in this race as Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Newcastle United and RB Leipzig are all keeping a close watch on the German prodigy.
The fans will be excited by this new transfer strategy implemented by United’s new owners. It remains to be seen whether they can move a step ahead and start recruiting such top talents regularly.
