Manchester United send scouts to watch Porto’s Fabio Vieira

As reported by The Sun, Manchester United has sent scouts to Portugal to watch Porto’s Fabio Vieira as the club has developed a strong interest in him.

Vieira has established himself as a regular in the Porto lineup, scoring 17 goals and assists in 22 league appearances. Despite his young age, Vieira is an important player for Porto, who are now six points clear at the top of the league.

Manchester United scouted the young Portuguese this season and was impressed. The club last saw him in action during Porto’s 3-1 win over Santa Clara, in which Vieira scored twice and was named man of the match.

Vieira is a natural attacking midfielder who might provide cover for Bruno Fernandes upfront. United midfielders Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata’s contracts will end in the summer, and they are expected to leave the club.

As a result, there isn’t much cover in this region, thus Vieira may be a good signing for Manchester United.

The young midfielder will have to weigh the fact that he will likely get far less game time than if he stayed in Portugal, but a move to the Premier League is widely seen as the peak for many European players.

United board have already raided Porto to sign Alex Telles two years back and they could do it again this time. Only time will tell whether the club will show seriousness in this deal or go back to normalcy after signing a defensive midfielder.
