Manchester United plan to give manager Erik ten Hag, a fresh two-year deal after they wrapped up their season-end check.
This news, awaited for more than two weeks, was shared on Tuesday night.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein made it clear that ten Hag will stay on as the Red Devils’ boss, stopping all the talk about what’s next for him.
There certainly had been times during the season when an end to United’s job for the Dutchman seemed possible with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS speaking to other potential managers.
Among those spoken to were Thomas Tuchel, Kieran McKenna, Mauricio Pochettino, Marco Silva, Gareth Southgate, and Thomas Frank.
But despite such talks, it is now decided that Ten Hag will stay on for some more time. Ornstein then went to note that 54-year-old Ten Hag is now in line for a new deal at Old Trafford.
Also, according to The Telegraph, Ten Hag is expected to get an offer for a two-year extension to effect current deal.

Preliminary discussions have already taken place with the complication; although finer details are still being ironed out that the extension would be for a further period of two years.
Ten Hag signed a three-year deal when he joined in 2022 with Manchester United holding the option to extend it by another year.
That contract is up until June 30 2025, but this new deal replaces it so he effectively now has another three years from the end of this month.
According to Jason Burt, this was a call personally made by Sir Jim Ratcliffe himself, who desires the current boss to continue to manage the team from the Old Trafford dugout.
Presently, he is named as manager but INEOS allegedly wants to have a head coach that would mainly coach with other parts of the job, such as recruitment, done by someone else.
The extension shows Manchester United believe in Ten Hag as a man and are moving towards stability and continuity given the direction they are looking at in the next few seasons.
