Manchester United set to meet with Facundo Pellistri’s agent to discuss about a new deal

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United intends to meet with Facundo Pellistri’s agent next week to discuss a new deal.

Pellistri made his United debut in January against Charlton Athletic, and since then, he has made a total of seven appearances across all competitions.

Only one of those came as a starter, and it has been suggested that the Uruguayan may be loaned out for the 2023–2024 campaign.

Pellistri’s current contract has a 12-month extension option and ends in June 2025. United is now eager to negotiate a better contract for him. Next week, discussions over compensation and the duration of the extension will start.

Pellistri has improved significantly over the past year and is now a consistent member of the Uruguayan national team. With 11 appearances, he has three assists.

The 21-year-old will likely need to be patient as he has not yet established himself as a regular for the Red Devils. At the moment, Antony is the unquestioned right flank starter.

Pellistri is unlikely to fit into manager Erik ten Hag’s plans because players like Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho, and Marcus Rashford can also play from that position.

So, he might be loaned out throughout the upcoming season. We won’t be shocked if United were tempted to loan him out to a Championship mid-table team.

This year, Amad Diallo has performed admirably while on loan at Sunderland. In 34 games, the Ivorian teenager has nine goals and three assists.

Pellistri might move to the Black Cats and take the same path. United starlet Anthony Elanga is also expected to be loaned out next season.
