Manchester United set to miss key defensive ace ahead of Brentford clash

While speaking to the club’s official website, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has given a mixed update ahead of their Premier League match against Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The team has faced a challenging start to the new season, losing 12 points in their first seven matches. They have also struggled in the Champions League, with losses to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray in the initial two group-stage fixtures.

Ten Hag is eager for United to get back to winning when they face Brentford. However, he has shared that Reguilon won’t be available for selection.

The Spaniard, who began individual training earlier this week and participated in team training today, won’t feature against the Bees.

The manager also stated that Antony is prepared to start against Thomas Frank’s team after coming off the bench in the recent Galatasaray match.

The Brazilian has had several training sessions and is expected to bring much-needed quality to the right wing. While speaking about these player’s current status ahead of the Brentford game, the gaffer said:

“Not for tomorrow [Reguilon]. I think he’s [Antony] ready for a start].“

Man United currently occupies the 10th position in the league table after playing seven games this season. They find themselves seven points behind the top four, making their upcoming match against Brentford a crucial one that they must win.

While the Red Devils may appear to be the favourites on paper against the West London side, they must be careful of the attacking threat posed by Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, who have played pivotal roles for the Bees up front.

The visiting team has a solid defence and often looks to capitalize on counter-attacks.

United also needs to improve their defensive performance, as they recently surrendered leads twice to Galatasaray in a midweek match, eventually losing 3-2.
