According to The Athletic, Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial, and Antony are all doubts for Manchester United’s forthcoming match against Barcelona.
Barcelona will visit United on Thursday for the second leg of their Europa League play-off match. Marcus Rashford scored in the 2-2 draw of the first leg at Camp Nou.
The Red Devils are considered to have a fantastic opportunity with this contest. They will be one of the favourites to win the trophy should they defeat their rivals on Thursday.
However, the Red Devils will likely be without three players for the Catalan match. Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial, and Antony are all unlikely to play due to recent injuries.
Although he was not used as a substitute in the first match, Maguire missed the weekend match against Leicester City due to a knee injury. The other two haven’t been around since the start of February.
The England international has started every game for United in the past several years. But now, manager Erik ten Hag has preferred to utilise players like Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, and Luke Shaw at centre back this season.
Martial has frequently been in Ten Hag’s starting XI when fit and available. Yet, the forward’s limited playing time is a sign of concern.
Similarly, Antony is Ten Hag’s preferred right-winger. The Brazilian has 23 appearances under his belt since joining PSV Eindhoven last summer, scoring five goals and providing one assist.
But Martinez and Marcel Sabitzer, who were both suspended for the trip to the Camp Nou, are back on Thursday. Scott McTominay is also back in the running after making his weekend debut.
