Manchester United Share The Spoils With Sheffield United In Six Goal Thriller

Newly promoted side Sheffield United scored a dramatic late equalizer to salvage a point against the Red Devils after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team had made a recovery from two goals down to lead at Bramall Lane.

Scottish forward Oliver McBurnie’s 90th-minute strike was awarded following a nervous wait as the VAR (video assistant referee) reviewed the goal for a potential handball when the forward controlled Callum Robinson’s cross.

Three goals in a blistering seven minutes appeared to have rescued the lackluster display from Solskjaer’s side in the initial period, and the visitors looked all but beaten after Lys Mousset added to John Fleck’s opener for Chris Wilder’s side seven minutes after the half time whistle.

But 19-year-old left-back Brandon Williams’ goal after 72 minutes sparked the struggling travelers into life before teenage sensation Mason Greenwood leveled things up by coming onto the pitch off as a substitute and English forward Marcus Rashford seemed to have completed the comeback in a superb spell of only seven minutes.

But that was not enough to see off a resilient Sheffield United as the hosts pushed for a late equalizer and shared a point with the fallen giants pushing United into 9th place on the Premier League table.

Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea had already produced outstanding saves to keep out John Lundstram and David McGoldrick but couldn’t do much about Fleck’s ricochet after Mousset robbed Phil Jones in the build-up to the opener.

It went from bad to worse for Solskjaer’s as Mousset beat De Gea with a lovely finish from outside the box.

However, the visitors turned the game on its head in a quick electrifying period of 7 minutes, as left-back Williams produced a superb first-time finish before Greenwood tucked in from close range off Rashford’s cross

The 21-year-old Rashford thought he had earned all three points for United 11 minutes from time after rounding off a fine move by tucking home from eight yards, only for Sheffield striker McBurnie to level the score with a frantic last-minute strike.
