Manchester United should improve their recruitment insists Rangnick

Ralf Rangnick has insisted that Manchester United should have a smart recruitment strategy to build a team for the future. He also said that he doesn’t want the team to wait for 30 years just like Liverpool to win their next Premier League title.

It sounds much like a joke aimed toward Liverpool but it does make sense. Manchester United shouldn’t be waiting for years for another trophy. If the club has a sense of direction and has made a plan, it can execute it within a few transfer windows.

The United board had a busy summer transfer window last year. They signed Raphael Varane, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Jadon Sancho. All of the three players were United’s preferred target.

Sancho and Ronaldo have been the standout performers and this implies that their signing was a success. But Raphael Varane has been hit with fitness issues due to his long-standing injuries.

The club should now focus on signing players who are a pre-requisite for the squad. A defensive midfielder, a center-back, a full-back, and a striker could help the team to compete for the present and the future.

Ageing players will not help the club ahead but players in their prime with experience or young ones can be a valuable addition to the squad. But signing these players needs a strategy about which player to sign and will it suit the club.

It may take two or three transfer windows to make it possible but in the end, the manager will be happy to have his targets with him.

Raf Rangnick has talked about this strategy that he would love to see at Manchester United. As reported by the club’s official website, the interim manager said:

“If you know what you are looking for it will take two or three windows.  If you don’t know what you are looking for it is a needle in a haystack. If you know what kind of football you want to play and what kind of profiles you want for each individual position, then it is about finding the players and convincing them to come.”

Surprisingly, Ralf Rangnick had the opportunity to coach six Liverpool players. He worked with Joel Matip at Schalke, Roberto Firmino at Hoffenheim, and various other players like Ibrahima Konate, Sadio Mane, Naby Keita, and Takumi Minamino.

With Erik Ten Hag set to be appointed as the new manager, the board will need his ideas to strategize their next transfer window. If United are able to finish in the top-four, then there are chances that they could lure top players this season.

Nevertheless, Manchester United has been a club that has always been able to attract the world’s best players.
