According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are showing interest in signing Brentford’s left-back, Rico Henry, before the closure of the summer transfer window on Friday.
This move comes as a response to the absence of Luke Shaw, who is expected to be sidelined for several months due to a recent muscle injury, and the continued recovery of Tyrell Malacia, who has yet to regain full fitness.
United have been linked with several left-back options, including Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham, and Marcos Alonso from Barcelona. Another name in contention is Brentford’s Rico Henry.
The 26-year-old Henry is being considered for a potential call-up to the England national team. Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate observed Henry and other players during Brentford’s season opener against Tottenham Hotspur.
Henry notably provided an assist in that match and has played every minute in all three of Brentford’s Premier League games this season.

In the previous season, Henry appeared in 37 league matches, contributing two assists, and he scored three goals in 34 league games during his debut Premier League campaign in 2021-22.
Former Leicester City manager Dean Smith, who once managed Henry during his time at Brentford, praised the full-back as “excellent” and likened him to a young Ashley Cole from their days together at Walsall.
Henry is under contract with Brentford until at least 2026, and not only will he likely be a costly acquisition, but persuading Brentford to part ways with one of their key players in the final days of the transfer window could be challenging.
In the absence of Shaw, Diogo Dalot filled in at left-back for Man United in their recent match against Nottingham Forest.

However, manager Erik ten Hag is keen on bolstering this position, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the club is linked with more left-back options before the Friday deadline.
Another potential option is Alvaro Fernandez, but the 20-year-old has been linked with a possible loan move, and it remains uncertain whether he will stay with the club for this season.
