As stated by the club’s official website, Manchester United have finalized the signing of Andre Onana from Inter Milan, signing him to a five-year contract with the possibility of extending it for an additional year.
Onana’s arrival marks him as the replacement for David de Gea as the club’s goalkeeper, as the Spaniard departed from Old Trafford as a free agent earlier this month.
Onana is known as one of the top ball-playing goalkeepers in Europe. He experienced considerable success at Ajax under the guidance of Erik ten Hag.
The African ace was happy to join the Red Devils as he said:
“To join Manchester United is an incredible honour. I have worked hard all my life to get to this moment, overcoming many obstacles along the way.”
“Manchester United has a long history of incredible goalkeepers, and I will now give everything to create my own legacy in the coming years. “
“I am excited by the opportunity to work again with Erik ten Hag. I can’t wait to play my part in the success I know he is determined to deliver at this great football club.”

Last summer, he made a move to Inter, where he played a crucial role in their triumph in the Coppa Italia and their qualification for the Champions League final.

As Ten Hag’s team emphasizes possession-based football, Onana will play a vital role in their strategy. He prefers to operate as a sweeper-keeper, frequently leaving his penalty box to push the team forward.
Onana’s impressive technical skills were on full display during the UEFA Champions League final against Manchester City.
The shot-stopper is set to join United’s pre-season tour in the United States, and the club has revealed that he will wear the no.24 jersey, the same number he wore during his time at Ajax and Inter.

With Onana’s signing secured, United will now turn their attention to acquiring a new striker.
Rasmus Hojlund is a primary target for the striker position, but Atalanta are demanding a significant fixed fee of €60 million to allow his departure.
