According to the Telegraph, Manchester United have made significant progress in talks to extend Marcus Rashford’s contract.
During the 2022–23 season, the 25-year-old has been in outstanding form for the Red Devils, making 52 appearances across all competitions while tallying 29 goals and 11 assists.
The attacker’s contract with the 20-time English champions is set to expire in June 2024. The United academy product is still frequently linked to Paris Saint-Germain, and the French club is reportedly keeping a close eye on his growth.
The Red Devils and Rashford are in talks for a new contract and negotiations are “heading in the right direction.” Rashford’s stellar play under Erik Ten Hag’s guidance will undoubtedly cause him to rank among United’s highest earners.
The English star struggled under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick leading to rumours of a transfer away from Old Trafford last summer.
However, Ten Hag was unwilling to let Rashford leave last season, as he knew that the forward would be crucial to his future plans.
In 32 Premier League games this season, the 25-year-old has tallied 16 goals and five assists, with the Red Devils now occupying the fourth spot in the league standings.
He was unable to help United in beating Brighton in the Premier League matchup on Thursday, as the Seagulls prevailed due to a last-minute penalty from Alexis Mac Allister.
However, the forward’s six goals and two assists in six appearances in the competition were crucial to Ten Hag’s team winning the EFL Cup this season.
Rashford has now played 355 times for United across all competitions, making 122 goals and 68 assists along the way. The Red Devils recently confirmed contract talks for Diogo Dalot and David de Gea as well as contract extensions for Luke Shaw and Alejandro Garnacho.
Ten Hag’s team will be aiming to recover from their close defeat at Brighton when they travel to relegation-threatened West Ham United on Sunday.
