Scott McTominay Ruled Out With Knee Injury | April 2023-24

As revealed by the Daily Mail, Manchester United have suffered a fresh injury blow as midfielder Scott McTominay has been ruled out with a knee injury he suffered against Chelsea.

He hyperextended his knee after coming on as a substitute in last week’s 4-3 defeat at Stamford Bridge. Due to this, the Scottish star missed out against Liverpool last weekend.

It is not a serious injury but he may be out for two to three weeks depending on the rehabilitation process. Man Utd are facing a shortage of centre-backs with four senior players being sidelined.

Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans are injured with the Argentine and Swedish star being sidelined for another two months. Varane and Evans are also unlikely to return anytime soon.

Due to this, the manager opted to start Willy Kambwala alongside Harry Maguire against Liverpool and the pair fared well.

Even full-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are injured for a long time. The former might return in the upcoming months.

However, the Red Devils are boosted by the return of Mason Mount and Casemiro. Both midfielders have been directly incorporated into the starting XI in the clash against Chelsea.

McTominay has been a super sub for the English giants and has scored several goals for Erik ten Hag’s side.

His instant impact will be missed by the Red Devils as they aim to win the maximum number of games to boost their chances of a top-four finish. The 27-year-old’s goals helped United pickup 12 extra points this campaign.

The midfielder is a doubt for the upcoming FA Cup semi-final clash against Coventry City at Wembley. It is expected that the gaffer might start Casemiro alongside Kobbie Mainoo with either Christian Eriksen or Mount taking the last spot in midfield.

Until now, the club haven’t given any official confirmation on McTominay’s injury and it remains to be seen when will the player return to playing Premier League football.
